Hoy Road Closure Update

Due to unforeseen site conditions that require extra work, pedestrian
and bicycle access to Hoy Road will be closed beginning Monday, July
21st. The road is scheduled to re-open to pedestrian and bicycle access
on Monday, August 4th.

Pedestrians may utilize the Dwyer Dam stairs connecting to the
Schoellkopf Crescent parking lot and also access the campus via Judd
Falls Road, Oak Avenue or Dryden Road. The Hoy Road parking garage will
remain open with walkway access extending to the garage only.
Additionally, pedestrians may access the Tennis Courts or the trails
along Cascadilla Creek from the path connecting to the Rhodes Hall
service drive.

Questions about pedestrian detour routes should be directed to Cornell
Commuter & Parking Services at 255-4600. A detailed map can be
found by accessing the "Hoy Road Closure Update" notice at
http://www.fs.cornell.edu/ .
Thank you for your cooperation.

Hoy Road Closing May 27th

Hoy Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic from Dwyer Dam Bridge
(Dryden Road and Route 366) to the parking garage beginning Tuesday,
May 27, 2008 through this September.

Please note:

-- Pedestrian access on Hoy Road will be maintained throughout the
project. Please use care and obey all signs and flag persons through
designated pedestrian areas. There may be critical construction
operations which temporarily close the pedestrian through access, but
these will be noted in advance. Bicyclists may also use the pedestrian
route with caution.

-- All parking garage traffic will enter on the north side from Campus
Road, near Schoellkopf Hall. The exit will be located on the south
side. Please follow all directional signs.

-- The visitor information and parking booth on Hoy Road will be closed
for the summer. Visitors should be directed to the booth on Tower Road.

-- The East Hill Shuttle service will be re-routed for the duration of
the project. Visit http://www.parking.cornell.edu for a revised route.

Hoy Road should be open on August 21, 2008 for new students arriving on
campus. It will close on August 22, 2008 and remain closed until the
project is complete.

Project plans include repairing the retaining walls, stabilizing the
slope along the gorge, replacing utility vaults, rebuilding and
widening the roadbed, and adding bicycle lanes and raised brick
pedestrian cross walks. The section of Hoy Road from the parking garage
to Campus Road will be resurfaced during the final phase of the project.
